CAST ALL YOUR CARES ON GOD

Introduction

1 Peter 5:7 - “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you.”

Matthew 11:30 - “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Every human being carries something:

  • Some carry financial pressure.
  • Some carry family problems.
  • Some carry disappointment, rejection, loneliness, internal burdens, fear, or uncertainty about tomorrow.

Sometimes, the greatest burden is not what people can see, but what we carry secretly in our hearts.

God gives us a divine invitation in 1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. Notice that the Bible does not say, “Cast some of your cares upon Him.” It says ALL.

God is not asking you to carry what He has already made provision to carry for you. The question is not whether you have cares—the question is: Who is carrying them?

1. God Knows What You Are Going Through

Before you can cast your cares on God, you must first understand that He knows your situation.

Hebrews 4:15 - “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities…”

Jesus understands your weakness. He knows what it means to be rejected, betrayed, to weep, and to experience pain.

  • Your tears do not make God uncomfortable.
  • Your pain does not surprise Him.
  • Your struggles do not make Him abandon you.

As the Psalms remind us, God records our wanderings and puts our tears into His bottle. He sees the tears nobody else sees, hears the prayers you cannot properly express, and knows the burden you cannot explain. You may carry a burden privately, but you are never carrying it secretly from God.

2. God Does Not Just Know Your Care; He Cares About YOU

Our main text does not simply say that God knows your care. It says, "For He careth for you." God does not merely care about your problem; He cares about YOU.

We often think God is only interested in the "big" things, but Jesus teaches us that the Father is concerned even about the smallest details of our lives:

Matthew 10:30 — “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

If God knows the number of hairs on your head, surely your tears, needs, fears, dreams, and struggles are not beneath His attention.

  • You are not a burden to God.
  • Your prayers do not irritate Him.
  • Your needs do not exhaust Him.
  • Your weakness does not cause Him to reject you.

Psalm 55:22 - “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee…”

When God asks you to cast your burden on Him, it is because He has the strength to carry what you cannot.

3. "Casting" Means Deliberately Handing It Over

The word "casting" is crucial. It means to throw, place, or transfer something from yourself to another.

Imagine someone carrying a heavy load and finally setting it down - they don't put the load down and continue carrying it in their mind. They release it. That is what God asks us to do: Stop carrying what you have already committed to Him.

Philippians 4:6–7 - “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer replaces anxiety with peace. The situation may not immediately change, but something changes inside you. You move from "What am I going to do?" to "God will take care of this."

4. You Cannot Experience God's Peace While Holding On to the Burden

Many people pray but never release. They say, "Lord, I give it to You," and five minutes later ask, "But what if this happens?" They give it to God in prayer and take it back through worry.

Matthew 6:25, 27, 34 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life… Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? … Take therefore no thought for the morrow…”

Worry does not solve tomorrow; it only steals today’s strength. Tomorrow is in God’s hands. Your responsibility is obedience today - your future is God's responsibility.

5. God Cares, But You Must Trust Him

Casting your cares on God requires faith.

Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Sometimes we struggle to release our cares because we want to understand everything before we trust God. But faith says: "I may not understand what God is doing, but I trust who God is."

Hebrews 11:8 “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out… obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

Faith does not require complete information. Faith requires confidence in God's character.

6. God May Not Remove the Storm Immediately, But He Can Give You Peace In It

In Mark 4:35–41, a great storm arose while Jesus and His disciples were in a boat. The disciples panicked while Jesus slept. When they woke Him saying, "Master, carest thou not that we perish?", Jesus arose and commanded, "Peace, be still."

The disciples discovered a vital truth: The presence of a storm does not mean the absence of God. Jesus was in the boat and if Jesus is in your boat, you have hope!

7. Sometimes God Calms the Storm; Sometimes He Calms You

There are times when God changes the situation, and times when God changes you in the middle of the situation.

When Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed, God didn't remove it immediately. Instead, He said:

2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Paul learned that God's grace could sustain him even when his circumstances hadn't changed. Sometimes, the miracle is not that the storm disappeared, it is that you discovered strength you didn't know you had because God's grace sustained you.

8. Casting Your Cares Does Not Mean You Stop Acting Responsibly

Trusting God is not laziness. Casting your cares means: "I will do what God has commanded me to do, and I will leave the outcome in His hands."

  • Nehemiah prayed, but he also built.
  • David trusted God, but he still faced Goliath.
  • Noah trusted God, but he still built the ark.

Faith does not cancel responsibility; faith removes fear from responsibility. You can work without worrying, plan without panicking, pray without doubting, and prepare while trusting God with the result.

9. Jesus Invites the Weary to Come

Matthew 11:28 - “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Notice Jesus does not say, "Come to Me when you have solved everything." He says, "Come unto Me… heavy laden."

  • Come with the burden.
  • Come with the tears and questions.
  • Come with the weakness, disappointment, and uncertainty.
  • Come as you are.

Jesus is not waiting for you to become strong before He helps you. He invites you to come because you are weak and He is strong.

Practical Action: What Should You Do With Your Cares?

  1. Pray About Them (Philippians 4:6) - Don't only talk about your problems; talk to God about them.
  2. Trust God (Proverbs 3:5) - Trust Him even when you cannot trace Him.
  3. Search the Word (Psalm 119:130) - When life becomes confusing, God's Word gives light.
  4. Give Thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18) - Thanksgiving reminds you that your current problem is not the whole story.
  5. Wait on God (Isaiah 40:31) - Waiting is not wasting time; waiting on God is an act of faith.

Conclusion & Faith Declaration

Cast your financial cares. Cast your family, ministry, and future cares. Cast your unanswered questions, fears, disappointments, and secret burdens upon Jesus, because He cares for you.

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you know Who holds tomorrow. You may not understand the process, but you can trust the God who controls it. Even through the valley of the shadow of death, the Shepherd is with you.

Say This Declaration Today:

"I will not die under the weight of what God has invited me to surrender.

I will cast my cares upon the Lord.

I will trust His Word, His timing, His wisdom, His power, and His love.

Because He cares for me!"

Prayer

We declare that our burdens are in Your hands. We will not be afraid, we will not give up, and we will not lose hope. We trust You, Lord. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Father, we come before You with every burden, fear, worry, and situation beyond our strength. Today, we choose to cast our cares upon You.

Give us the grace to stop worrying about what we have already committed into Your hands. Give us peace in the middle of the storm, strength when we are weak, and faith when we cannot understand. Help us to trust Your timing, Your Word, and Your promises.
